Stardust Green
Stardust Green is a matte-crystal glaze that Ben Owen III developed over a 2-year span and approved for sale in 2012. The name is derived from the amazing photographs of actual stardust beamed back to Earth at the time from the Hubble Space Telescope. Stardust Green works require a kiln temperature meticulously controlled to over 2,300° Fahrenheit, with specific rising and falling temperature rates to encourage micro-crystal growth and render this stunning final product. The glaze is applied by carefully airbrushing multiple layers of different glazes onto a piece. Titanium-rich ingredients in the glazes promote crystal development. Copper tints the crystals green. Iron oxide is used to achieve the background color.
