Taking place at Peter’s Valley Craft Center in Layton, New Jersey, this workshop is a unique opportunity to make your own work alongside one of the country’s preeminent potters. Participants will work at their own pace while at the same time be introduced to Owen’s ways of making work for an anagama kiln. Techniques such as sectional and coil throwing large forms will be shared. Also, ways of thinking about forms with regards to what happens to them during a long firing will be discussed. There will be a number of different clay bodies available, as well as several from Starworks [North Carolina] that the instructor will bring for participants to explore. Presentations and discussions will round-off the workshop with this special artist. Work produced in this workshop will be included in the firing of the anagama that follows. This workshop can be taken alone or in conjunction with the firing workshop. For more information, visit Peters Valley Craft Center website.
