Hour Glass in Plum.jpg

Plum and Purple

Our Plum and Purple glaze is a variation on the Cabernet (or Copper Red) finish. The addition of magnesium carbonate and tin oxide changes the cranberry red color to a violet or plum hue. The thickness of the glaze also produces a range of color within the same glaze. Where it is thicker, a reddish-purple will develop and where the glaze is thinner, a copper red color occurs. Interestingly, the Mulberry glaze is a textured variation of this Plum glaze.
