While there is only one artist still using the pâte-sur-pâte cameo technique in North Carolina, crystalline pottery, on the other hand, has grown in popularity! Come check out pieces by a number of contemporary North Carolina ceramic artists across the state who skillfully blend science and art to create breathtaking pieces with a variety of crystalline structures, as well as pieces by our state’s lone remaining cameo artist.
Featured artists in this exhibition: Ben Owen III, Bulldog Pottery, Deborah Caliva, Celtic Pottery, Rodney Leftwich, Al McCanless, Frank Neef, Uwharrie Crystalline, Marie Wright, Wyndham & Brook Haven Pottery.
Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5:30—8:00 pm. (There will be a Clay Talks! presentation by Rodney Leftwich from 7:00-8:00 pm relating to the Pisgah Forest & Nonconnah: The Potteries of Walter B. Stephen tempoary exhibition that is opening at the same time.) Our reception is free of charge and open to the public.
All pieces in the contemporary show will be available for purchase. Purchased pieces must remain in the show until it ends.
This exhibition will run from June 28-December 14, 2019.
